Senior Corporate Counsel - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join their legal team on a fully remote basis. This key position will provide strategic legal guidance and support for a wide array of corporate initiatives, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk. You will play an integral role in advising senior management on complex legal matters, shaping corporate policies, and supporting business growth globally. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the legal aspects of significant corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, securities law, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement robust internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to legal standards.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and effectively oversee litigation matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and high-value contracts.
• Advise on risk management strategies and ensure proactive identification and mitigation of legal exposures.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate law, preferably with significant in-house experience.
• Deep understanding of South African corporate and commercial law, and familiarity with international legal practices is a plus.
• Proven track record in handling complex M&A transactions and corporate finance matters.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing a remote workload efficiently and independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
